Fall Ball – 2024

PAGS offers softball in the spring, summer and fall. The programs we offer are tailored to best fit the abilities, interests and ages of our players and may vary from one season and year to the next. That said, spring is generally considered the recreational season, summer the competitive season and fall is a great opportunity for continuing development. One thing that doesn’t vary is our approach – we are firmly committed to providing a positive, constructive, fun and developmentally appropriate environment where all kids can develop both as individuals and teammates.

In our Fall Recreational league, the emphasis at all levels is on skill development, team play and having fun. We typically field 1-2 teams at the 6U, 8U, 10U, 12U, and sometimes 14U levels, depending on registration and coach availability. If we are short coaches, priority is given to returning PAGS families, volunteers and early registrants.

The season will run 8-10 weeks long, with games typically on Sundays and potentially practices during the week (TBD).

Where are the games played?

Schedules are still being worked out, but PAGS teams can expect to play against other teams in leagues around the peninsula and south bay. Games will be played at different fields between San Mateo and Campbell. No games will be more than about 40 minutes away.

What are the fees for 2023 Fall Recreational Season?

There is a fee of $175 for 6U and 8U, $200 for 10U, $275 for 12U and 14U to cover the cost of umpires, supplemental uniforms and field rental.

As we are successful in developing young pitchers, we look forward to reducing (and eventually eliminating) the need for coach back up pitching at the 10U level.

Evaluations are held to inform team formation.

What equipment will the league provide, and what will my child need to provide?

PAGS provides team members with the uniform jerseys and socks. We also have a few team batting helmets and bats as well as balls, catcher’s gear, bases and playing fields. Players provide their own baseball/softball gloves, fielding mask, and athletic shoes (baseball, softball, or soccer cleats are recommended, but not required). Sliding shorts (or pants) are required for 12U and 14U (and recommended for those 10U girls who want to give sliding a try). Batting gloves are optional. Some players may choose to purchase their own batting helmet and/or bat.

What are the basic rules of the game?

The rules differ by division. Choose the appropriate division from the menu on top of the page.
